Time to Plan for a Re-Charge

We are close to the end of the first quarter of 2013. By now you’ve been running hard for close to 90 days. Hopefully all the time and effort you put into your plans to kick off the year strong are starting to pay dividends.

Have you thought about taking a (brief) break to Re-Charge? Hopefully you have. If not … now might be a good time to start thinking about it.

Of course, this is the time of year when Spring Break is on a lot of people’s minds.

Whether you are still in school or recently graduated, if you have kids, you will likely have a different perspective on what Spring Break means.

What do you do to Re-Charge? There are lots of options

Do you:

  • Read, Write, Rest
  • Run, Ride, Roll
  • Rock, Roll, Riff
  • Reiki, Rolf, Reflexology

There is no wrong way to re-charge. No matter what you do to recharge it is important that you do something. Anything.

Can your Re-Charge Activities help during the interview process?
They might. It may not be prudent to start off a conversation with you outside the office activities, whether it’s building houses with Habitat for Humanity or trekking through a jungle. However, your re-charge efforts may show off a side of you that doesn’t come across on a resume. Make the most of them when the time is right.

A few more reasons to Re-Charge

  • It’s also important in this day and age to Disconnect
  • Disconnect so that you can Re-Connect (with Family and Friends and Life)
  • Recharge Regularly so that when you get back you can Charge It!
  • Change what you are seeing so you can change what you see Being
    • If it’s true that we are what we eat (and it is). Then it’s also true that we are what we consume … through our eyes, ears and other senses.
    • Take the time to try something new, to see something new, so that you can be something new

Change your View – to Change You

  • it does not need to cost a lot
  • it doesn’t need to cost anything
  • A new view can be a simple change in perspective that can change a lot more than you might have ever thought.

One way to do a mini-recharge is to try Screen Free Sundays. It’s just one day, but it’s one day that can provide you time to think, time to re-connect with family and friends and just a time to do nothing. Perhaps surprisingly … there can be a lot of productivity in doing nothing

Take the time and make the time to Re-Charge on a regular basis. What you decide to do is not as important as that you decide to do something. What will you decide? What will you do to Re-Charge?
