Develop a Brand Voice

When you are building your brand with the help of social media, it is easy to get lost in the midst of other brands in your niche. The key is to let your message be heard and stand out from the rest. How people perceive you online should resonate with them, and be as unique as your own fingerprints.

Your brand’s tone

An important starting point is to create a tone, which begins with focusing on the strengths and qualities your brand has to give. What do you have to offer that other’s don’t? Take special note of testimonials from your audience, and build from there. The next discovery phase in developing your voice should be to revisit the goal of your brand and accentuate that. There are three key questions to ask in social media especially.

1. Is your brand authentic? This includes staying true to your message, and being honest to your audience, especially if there is a mistake or misunderstanding. Keep your social media posts relevant, clear, and truthful.

2. Are you persistent? If your brand drops out of the social media spotlight, this not only places you outside of the minds of your audience, but can be damaging to your sales. It is important to stay current and active, with friendly and informative engagement on all channels.

3. Is your product or service strong? What your clients or customers are currently saying is important to evaluate. Determine what improvements can be made, and use this as an outreach tool for your community to show that your brand is focused on meeting the needs of your audience and building their trust.

Building your brand image through social media does not have to be complicated or difficult as long as you have the right focus and steps in place. This is not a race to be won, but a business practice that is nurtured over time.

It is always a good idea to plan ahead your brand strategy, and keep your content and conversation fresh and active on social media. The more people that see who you are, the more you will be viewed as a unique voice in the online community and stand out from the pack. There are many ways to manage your social media channels, and schedule posts ahead of time such as free services like Hootsuite, Topsy, Buffer, and SocialOomph. When you take the time and plan ahead your brand will greatly benefit from developing these strategies.
