Are You Collecting the Honey?

Have you ever watched bees gathering honey?

Putting the work forth

In order to see sweet signs of success in your near future, honestly ask yourself if you are putting the work in to collect the honey? The idea came to me today as I admired the colony of bees undisturbed doing their magic on our lavender.

Whether you are a job seeker wanting to obtain a special interview or an entrepreneur wanting to attract a larger clientele, your mindset must be focused on working to help others. It becomes the collaboration that you put to work. Mentally review all of the people you met in your past that made an impact on you – those you have met in your past jobs, at networking events, and associations in addition to your friends and neighbors.

Staying connected and continuing to build relationships with as many people as possible is key to increasing your stature in business and taking the leadership position as an expert. People do take note of the underlying marketing communication message that you care.

Social media comes in very handy for doing just this. Develop a group and a like page on Facebook; offer helpful tweets on Twitter, and be certain to connect with apropos professionals on LinkedIn.

Everyone should register their name as a domain to begin a blog oriented website. Write a blog at least three times per week on your area of expertise to attract attention and get noticed. Marketing and branding experts will tell you these are the first two steps to becoming referred or getting the job.

Become an encourager

As you build your collaboration, encourage everyone involved to get connected too so that you each have a larger reach. Build your colony as the bees do. One of the most overlooked pieces is connecting people you know who may not be familiar with one another.

Just this morning, a newfound friend and expert with technology was mentioning he needs to find someone interested and able to take over those tasks for which he does not have the time. A light-bulb came on when I remembered a gentleman who last year kindly offered me programming code for my monthly newsletter without my having to ask for it.

The help coming my way gave me a better understanding of what “Bob” does plus he is now etched into my memory of someone for whom I wish to return the favor of help. Bob is looking for extra work and so I introduced him to my contact.

In honor of the Thanksgiving holiday celebrated this month in the U.S. – who are the people you may thank by way of introduction, referral and/or testimonial?

Enormous rewards abound

You will find the rewards are enormous when you put your mindset on helping the people in your network or collaboration. In addition to the reward of feeling good about helping someone else, most often the help will be reciprocated at some point in the form of a new opportunity.

As your sphere of influence grows, you will be developing greater business and attracting far many more prospects, clients and ultimately sales. The same techniques hold true for ultimately landing the job you desire and hearing HIRED!

When you work to help others you too will be rewarded with the honey and a very Smooth Sale!
