The winners

Congratulations to grand prize winners Paige Butcher, Natural Chica, and Dave Mozealous!

Paige Butcher stood out not only for garnering the most votes in her
category but also for creating a robust online presence to showcase her photography skills. She is easy to find in search results and on a variety of social networks, and her professional website showcases her extensive portfolio. She updated her website during the contest, and the new look is visually stunning and a great way to display her photography.

Mae (Natural Chica) leveraged her huge YouTube audience to win the voting portion of
the contest with over a thousand votes. She faced stiff competition from finalist Courtney Dial both in votes and judging, but the number of different social channels Mae is active on combined with the obvious influence she has online gave a slight edge. She has positioned herself extremely well as passionate about her hobbies and has grown a huge community online as a result.

Dave Mozealous won both the subject expert category voting and the judging in his category.
He got creative with the voting portion of the contest and created his own mini “Win Dave’s iPad” contest encouraging his followers to vote for him. Unlike the other contestants, Dave uses an illustrated version of himself as a logo for his blog and social networks, and he does a great job of creating continuity across his entire personal brand. Dave effectively uses his personal brand to convey information about the eLearning industry and show that he’s an expert in his field.

Summary

All of the contest finalists do a great job with their personal brands, so take inspiration from their online presences and work to grow and improve your personal brand today! You’ll notice that most of the finalists rely on a domain name and website as the backbone of their personal brand. Having your own website is one of the most effective ways to create your online presence and control your reputation. Start by finding a great domain name. The .COM extension continues to be the most popular, but other great alternatives such as .ME domains also exist and are a perfect fit for a personal website. Once you’ve found the perfect domain, web hosting will allow you to build a blog, website, or other content that showcases YOU online.
