Want to Work from Home?

Are you tired of waking up and driving to the office every day? Do you want to have a better work-life balance? Do you want to spend more time with your family? Then, working from home might be a good career choice for you. Holding a job where you can work from home is still a dream to many. Whether you want to find a corporate job as a remote employee or sell stuff on internet or work as a freelance writer, you need to know both advantages and disadvantages of working from home in order to make the best choice for yourself.

Advantages

1. Flexibility and convenience: Working from home gives you more freedom in terms of managing your time compared to an office job. In some cases, you don’t need to follow the 9 to 5 routine to do your work and you are good to work with a deadline. Also, you can set your own environment such as temperature, lighting and furniture in order to have the maximum convenience while working.

2. Getting rid of hidden costs: By working from home, you get rid of hidden costs such as commuting, gas, parking, buying expensive professional clothes, dry-cleaning, etc. You can wear whatever you want when you are working from home and since you don’t need to go anywhere, you can save a lot on transportation costs.

3. Less distractions and more productivity: You can concentrate easier when you work from home, because there are no coworkers asking you if you watched “that game or that movie” last night. Also, you can avoid unimportant meetings since you are not around. Moreover, you get less stressed given that you are working from your own environment which you set yourself. As a result, you can be more productive and get better performance on the work that you do.

4. Better work/life balance and better health: When you are at home, you can spend more time with your family especially, with your children. You can take care of them in your breaks and adjust your time according to their schedule. Also, you can cook for yourself and eat healthier foods rather than snacking at your desk. Finally, since you are not commuting to go to work, you don’t get nervous when you finish working unlike many commuters do, as a result of getting stuck in rush hour traffic to reach home.
