RICE restructures to boost Black entrepreneurship

"Rice Restructure"

Revamp at RICE Promises Boost for Black Entrepreneurs

The Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs (RICE), a global bastion of Black entrepreneurship, announced on March 28, 2024, a major restructuring of its executive team. Aimed at better supporting and elevating the aspirations of Black entrepreneurs worldwide, these changes are hailed as a critical step towards aligning with the evolving needs of the global entrepreneurship community.

As a part of this revamp, Shawn M. Graham, CPA assumes the twin roles of Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. Simultaneously, Monica Delores Hooks (MBA, EDP) steps into the role of Chief Experience Officer. Both are fervently dedicated to their roles and plan to bolster Black entrepreneurial capabilities with innovative, sustainable business solutions.

Experience and Expertise Key to New Roles

Graham brings to the table expertise in finance, strategy, and community engagement. He will oversee the financial and administrative sectors, and is expected to leverage his strategic skills and community ties to drive growth, streamline operations and encourage beneficial relationships.

Monica, with her significant background in entrepreneurial settings and her relation with the Women’s Entrepreneurship Initiative (WEI), is anticipated to be instrumental in generating resources and jobs.

RICE’s new executive restructure supports Black entrepreneurship

Her emphasis on financial literacy, and Shawn’s focus on leveraging new technologies, together endeavor to bridge knowledge and application gaps for Black entrepreneurs aimed at global success.

President and CEO Welcomes Changes

RICE’s President and CEO, James “Jay” Bailey, greeted the changes with enthusiasm, considering them a turning point in advancing entrepreneurship through inclusivity and innovation. He aims for these enhancements to underpin the growth and empowerment of minority entrepreneurs nationwide, fostering an ecosystem where diversity and innovation are the cornerstones of global entrepreneurship.

RICE reaffirms its commitment to ‘Build. Black. Business,’ its mission statement. They aim to foster innovation, nurture talents, and create opportunities within the Black community, contributing towards reducing racial wealth disparities and fostering a prosperous future for Black entrepreneurs worldwide.

In line with this commitment, RICE offers various business development programs, mentorships, training, networking events, and access to capital, all designed to equip entrepreneurs with the skills necessary for success. Thus, RICE continues to invest in tools and opportunities to foster Black business success on a global platform.
