There is no such thing as a fully grown tree. Why? A tree grows until the day it dies.
We need to be like a tree and continually look to grow. We need to develop our skills and our minds by reading appropriate material, listening to tapes and attending professional programs on subjects such as networking, leadership and teamwork.
Commit to ongoing personal growth. It will ensure the growth and development of us as well as those around us.
A lid to leadership
In his book, The 21 Irrefutable Laws Of Leadership, John C. Maxwell introduces the concept of The Law Of The Lid. Simply put, The Law Of The Lids states that we all have leadership ability and will only get those with equal to lesser leadership ability to follow us. So through personal growth, we can improve our leadership ability, and we effectively increase the number of potential people that will follow us.
What is true of leadership is also true of networking, teamwork, and other aspects of our abilities. Growing personally enhances the value we bring to ourselves as well as those around us. As we grow the more people will want to associate with us.
Commit to success
As Vince Lombardi (famed football coach of the Green Bay Packers) says:
“The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.”
Make like a tree … Not Leave … Grow!
