Hugh Jackman’s ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness ‘furious’ after finding out about his rumoured romance with Sutton Foster through friends

Deborra-Lee Furness, the ex-wife of Hollywood star Hugh Jackman, is reportedly ‘seething with rage’ after learning about his rumoured new romance with Broadway star Sutton Foster. The couple confirmed their separation in September 2023 after nearly three decades together. Furness is said to be particularly angered by Jackman’s close friends, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, who allegedly remained silent about the budding relationship.

Jackman, 56, and Furness, 69, announced their separation in September 2023 after nearly 30 years together. Since then, the Australian actor has reportedly been dating Sutton Foster, a Broadway star known for her role in The Music Man.

Furness is said to be ‘enraged’ for being the last to know about Jackman’s new relationship. Sources told Radaronline that she is particularly upset with Jackman’s close friend Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively. Both reportedly ‘kept quiet’ about the romance out of loyalty to Jackman.

‘She has a memory like a steel trap and isn’t afraid to use it,’ a source told the publication. ‘Debs feels cheated by all three because someone could have told her what was happening and they all chose to keep their mouths shut,’ they added.

Representatives for Deborra and Ryan have been contacted for comment by Daily Mail Australia but no response has been received yet.

Meanwhile, Jackman is said to be planning to introduce Sutton to his and Furness’ children Oscar, 24, and Ava, 19, over the festive period. Furness is reportedly not keen on the idea of a ‘blended’ family Christmas.

‘It’s a delicate balancing act and he feels like if anyone is going to spend less time with the kids this year, it’s him,’ a source commented on Jackman’s situation.

Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster worked together in The Music Man which ran from February 2022 to January 2023 at the Winter Garden Theatre in Manhattan. They have attended public events together, including the show’s opening night on Broadway.

Fans were taken by surprise when in September 2023 Jackman filed for divorce from Furness. The couple issued a joint statement saying: ‘Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.’

The high-profile separation of Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness after nearly three decades of marriage, followed by Jackman’s alleged new romance, has caught the attention of fans and media worldwide. Celebrities’ personal lives often become public spectacle, but it’s worth noting the impact these situations can have on the individuals involved.

Furness’ reported anger over being ‘the last to know’ about Jackman’s new relationship is a common sentiment in breakups. The feeling of betrayal can be exacerbated when close friends are seen as allies rather than neutral parties. In this case, Furness reportedly feels let down by Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively for their silence.

Moreover, the introduction of a new partner to children from a previous relationship can be a sensitive process. As reported, Furness is not enthusiastic about a ‘blended’ family Christmas, indicating potential tensions in adjusting to these changes. Navigating this transition can be complex, especially in high-profile cases like Jackman’s where public scrutiny is intense.

The couple’s joint statement about their divorce indicated a desire for individual growth after almost three decades together.
